McDonald's
Fat Suit Will Lead to Legalized Discrimination
Fat people are suing McDonald's. I choose to use the word "fat" because it's much more descriptive than "large" or "big-boned". I love America today! I was just doing the mental exercise of carrying this suit to fruition. Let's just say, for arguments sake, that this suit snowballs, like so many do, and goes class-action and makes it all the way to the Supreme Court. Can you imagine the call that would go out to fat people across the nation? "If you're over weight because of McDonald's we can make you money!" There would be weigh-in's in every major city across the United States, and the lawyers would assign a dollar per pound of over-weightness. This suit would be massive in every sense of the word. Folks that could use a couple of extra dollars would be bulking up to increase their piece of the pie, or Big-Mac as it were. What if McDonald's lost the suit? Can you imagine what you'd have to go through to get a Big-Mac after that? Never mind the disclaimers that would be required to be posted in every McDonald's "Eating here may be hazardous to your health. McDonald's has been know to cause obesity" Just to stay open McDonald's would be required to monitor their clientele before selling them some food that could make them fat. To keep their food handling license just imagine the procedures that would have to be put in place? "Please sir step over here, you appear to be over 25% fat I'm not sure we can serve you. Would you please step on the scale? No… Would you be willing to submit to an obesity test? No. I'm sorry sir we can't serve you here." And that would be just the beginning. Now, just envision the drive through and the staggering number of procedures this lawsuit would force to be in place. "Ma'am… I see you have 3 Big-gulp cups and 8 Twinkie rappers in the seat next to you. Could you please step out of the car and place yourself on the obesity meter? Thank you… Ma'am… If you want the food you will have to comply. Thank you." Mark my words, if McDonald's does lose this suit these kinds of precautions will have to be considered by all fast food eateries. Soon everyone may be required to carry the National calories burned card, where you'll have to prove how many calories you've burned before you can have junk food, and of course people will be desperate to get fake calorie ID's so that can have just one more burger, I know I will! |
